Here are some hints for you and your child:
- Start with him by teaching sound of letters but not names of letters.
- Reading at home should be for pleasure .You should read to him at once the words that he does not know.
- You can read with him the same book next day to make him familiar with these words.
- Make reading easier by reading one sentence each.
- Create a regular reading time for the whole family weakly.
- Let him read only one sentence - many stories have repeated words- and you read the rest.
- Paired reading is helpful .You read and he echoes the words.
- Reversed letters can be made in clay, Scotch tape or written in air in cursive and let him visualizes it.
- To know the letter names, make letters of cookie dough and ask him what letter are you eating?
- Play rhyming games, by saying one syllable word and see if he can think of a word that rhymes with it.
- Let him use books with audiotape.
